The Mr & I moved into our downtown sanctuary right after Thanksgiving. So far we are loving the bustling neighborhood. It’s steps from the sea, around the corner from a wide range of restaurants, and is easily accessible to other parts of Boston. Even better, a fully equipped gym is only 5 floors down and more often than not I have the whole place to myself. This has made it easy for me to commit to a regular workout schedule. . .even before the New Years resolutions kicked in.

About this time last year I was in my kitchen whipping up a spectacular dinner for the Mr. when I suddenly heard a loud rumble approach & fly over our house. Since we were living in a home overlooking the sea, it was not uncommon to have small tourist planes fly by & my first reaction was to dismiss this incident as an over ambitious pilot. But when I heard the whirs & rumbles again & again, I knew that something was amiss.
As the next set of thunderous calls pierced the air, I ran out onto the deck to investigate. What I saw was something straight out of a horror film – a seemingly giant mutant hornet angrily approaching me head on. Just as I thought this beast would surely slam into our house & blow me away in its path, it made a quick, steep assent barely missing the peak of our roof.
