This Red Wine Chocolate Castle Cake is an irresistibly moist chocolate cake spiced with the dark fruit notes of Malbec wine & coated with a lightly sweetened cream cheese frosting, then covered with a sprinkle embellished white chocolate bark for a fun, yet regal appearance.
Chocolate Mint cookie dough is rolled into logs & then frosted with a Creme de Menthe Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting & decorated with red sugar pearls & royal icing – Bûche de Noël doesn’t get any easier or more fuss free than this.
These cinnamon roll cookies are made up of rings of crispy buttery cookie, alternated with a sweet ribbon of cinnamon sugar. They are then rolled in turbinado sugar for an extra crunch of sweetness & topped with zig zags of cream cheese frosting – it’s everything you love about a cinnamon roll but in the form of a crisp, buttery cookie.
About this time last year I was in my kitchen whipping up a spectacular dinner for the Mr. when I suddenly heard a loud rumble approach & fly over our house. Since we were living in a home overlooking the sea, it was not uncommon to have small tourist planes fly by & my first reaction was to dismiss this incident as an over ambitious pilot. But when I heard the whirs & rumbles again & again, I knew that something was amiss.
As the next set of thunderous calls pierced the air, I ran out onto the deck to investigate. What I saw was something straight out of a horror film – a seemingly giant mutant hornet angrily approaching me head on. Just as I thought this beast would surely slam into our house & blow me away in its path, it made a quick, steep assent barely missing the peak of our roof.
Boston was only supposed to be a temporary rendezvous point for the Mr. and I.
The world headquarters for the multinational company the two of us have spent the majority of our adult lives dedicated to is located in Ohio. Because of this, the plan had always been for us to return back to the house we lovingly built in Cincinnati once our assignment in Kenya was complete. I would continue to work as a scientist in the Beauty Category and the Mr. would move on to another Marketing assignment.
But things never seem to go as planned and instead the company diverted us to Boston where I had no choice but to work on a new brand that I had little interest or passion for. After 11 months of trying to make it work, I finally decided that the time was right for me to leave Corporate and explore other passions that I never seemed to have time for while working endless hours for Corporate. And since the plan was for the Mr. to ultimately be sent back to Ohio, it frankly did not make sense for me to explore careers with other companies in the Boston area.
